Councillors There are five parish councillors, elected every 4 years.
The Parish Council meets every 2 months and dates are advertised on the village notice boards and in Smeatons magazine. The agenda is advertised 5 days before the date of the meeting.
The day-to-day business of the council is carried out by the Clerk.
Members of the public are welcome to attend parish council meetings, and may speak / ask questions in the Public Forum session at the start of the meeting.

Gillian Ivey - Parish Council Chair
Gillian Ivey became a parish councillor in February 2015.
Gillian has lived at The Old Chapel in Little Smeaton since 1987.
She served as a District Councillor for 12 years but retired in May 2015.
In the past she has been a governor at the village school, and for the last 10 years has been editor of The Smeatons village magazine.
Roz Brown - Vice Chair
Roz has lived in the village since 2005 with her husband, they have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
She is a Governor at Kirk Smeaton School where she also works as a volunteer.
Angela has lived in Little Smeaton with her husband, since 2007. Between them they have three grown up children and two young grandchildren, one attending Kirk Smeaton School. Angela retired 8 years ago following a 30 year career in the banking industry.
Colin has lived in Little Smeaton with his wife since 2014. He has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Recently retired after a long career in the electricity distribution industry. He became a councillor in May 2019.
