Councillors  

There are five parish councillors, elected every 4 years.                    

The Parish Council meets every 2 months and dates are advertised on the village notice boards and in Smeatons magazine.  The agenda is advertised 5 days before the date of the meeting. 

 The day-to-day business of the council is carried out by the Clerk.

Members of the public are welcome to attend parish council meetings, and may speak / ask questions in the Public Forum session at the start of the meeting.

Councillor Gillian Ivey

Gillian Ivey - Parish Council Chairman

Gillian has lived at The Old Chapel in Little Smeaton since 1987.
She served as a District Councillor from 2003-2015 & joined the Parish Council in 2015. In the past she has been a governor at the village school, and is currently Editor of The Smeatons Villages magazine and a member of the Living Went project

Councillor Colin Atkinson

Colin Atkinson - Vice Chairman

Colin has lived in Little Smeaton with his wife since 2014. He has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. He retired in 2018 after a long career in the electricity distribution industry. His interests include technology, sport, bird watching and photography. He became a councillor in May 2019.

Councillor Angela Hancock

Angela Hancock

Angela has lived in Little Smeaton with her husband, since 2007. Between them they have three grown up children and two young grandchildren, one attending Kirk Smeaton School. Angela retired in 2011 following a 30 year career in the banking industry. She has been a councillor since October 2019.

Joanne Howdle

Joanne has lived most of her life in Little Smeaton.  She spent 2 years living and working in Athens in the early 1980s before moving back to Little Smeaton.  She has worked at Spire Methley Park Hospital for the last 22 years. She became a councillor in 2020.
